About Kashan Carpets:

Kashan rugs are high in quality and make with incorporations of silk and wool. The majority of Kashan's typically have a central medallion and Persian floral motifs forming the pattern.

They have been crafted since the 17th century during the Safavid dynasty, with many scholars suggesting that many designs date back to the early 16th century. Kashan rugs are recognised as amongst the most magnificent and celebrated of all Perisian rugs. The city is home to the oldest gardens of Iran- the Fin Garden, and this garden also acts as a muse for many of the city's designs.

Situated in the Ishfahan province, Kashan is one the oldest cities of Iran. It was of the major seats of the pre-historic civilization.

Encircled by desert, Kashan cannot source locally. Originally Merino wool was imported from Manchester (UK) to create some of Iran's finest carpets. In more recent times Kashan rugs have used wool sourced from Sabzevar (in the north-east of Iran) which produces some of the very best wool in Iran.
