Hand Knotted Imperial Blue Pottery Carpet
This hand-knotted Erased Ancestry carpet is an ode to the Art of Blue Pottery. Blue Pottery came to Jaipur from Persia and Afghanistan via the Mughal courts. The name "Blue Pottery" came from the eye catching cobalt blue dye, used to colour the pottery. The Rajput ruler of Jaipur, Maharaja Mansingh introduced it in the city and created multiple blue pottery marvels during the 17th century. The beautiful fountains of the Rambagh Palace lined with blue pottery are a fine example.
