Hand Knotted Erased Shikargah (Hunting Ground) 8ft X 10ft Mughal Carpet
The hand knotted carpet depicts the Mughal Hunting Ground (Shikargah). It showcases a menagerie of Indian animals and birds combined with flowering plants in a complex and seeming indecipherable manner. A close look at the fragments reveals that certain images and configurations are repeated. This fantastic design has a vertical axes about which the pattern is created almost like a mirror image. The level of intricacy represented in this design is also at times referred to as a "Fearful Symmetry".
