Hand Knotted Deer in an Autumn Forest 6.6ft X 9.9ft Carpet

This hand knotted carpet from our Erased Ancestry Collection finds it's muse in the famous Chinese artwork titled Deer-in-an-Autumn-Forest, created by artist Giuseppe Castiglione, who was a missionary in China, where he served as an artist at the imperial court of three emperors- the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong. Castiglione's style of painting was a unique blend of European and Chinese compositional sensibility, technique and themes. His paintings were done on silk, where any mistake was impossible to be reworked, thus requiring extremely careful and precise painting.
